Rhodiola
Rosea migh sound like a strange name for a herb, but it's a very useful perennial plant of the Crassulaceae family. It grows in the Scandinavian countries as well as in the arctic regions of Europe,
the colder regions of Central Asia and in many other countries.
Rhodiola
Rosea grows up to a height of about 30 inches, and has yellow flowers. The Russians know it by the name, the ‘golden root’. In some other
countries, its common name is ‘roseroot’. When cut, it gives out a pleasant rose-like fragrance.
The Greeks
were perhaps the first to record the medicinal properties of Rhodiola Rosea. For ages, people in many countries such as Russia, Norway,
Sweden, Germany, France and Iceland used it as part of their traditional medicine, as it has wonderful qualities beneficial to both the mind
and the body.
People
have traditionally used Rhodiola Rosea to fight fatigue, anemia, and high altitude blues. Impotence, disorders of the intestine, nervous

tuberculosis and cancer. There are references that people used it for controlling vaginal discharge and for treating hernia, hemorrhoids,
hysteria and headaches. It is known to be useful as a stimulant and also as an anti-inflammatory agent.
